Certified translation carries legal weight. When a document is submitted to a public body, a court, or a notary, the translation must meet specific formal requirements. A standard translation, however accurate, may not be legally sufficient in these contexts.
We provide certified translations with a signed certification statement for use with Italian public administrations, consulates, universities, and commercial registries. For use before Italian courts or in sworn proceedings, we work with translators officially registered with the relevant tribunal.
Document types we handle routinely: birth and marriage certificates, academic transcripts and diplomas, company incorporation and registration documents, powers of attorney, wills, court orders, immigration documents, and professional qualification certificates.
Sworn translations are provided in physical signed and sealed form, delivered by registered post. A digital copy is also provided. We advise on whether your specific use case requires certified or sworn translation before we begin, because getting that wrong causes delays.
In practice
A family from Ecuador relocating to Campania needed certified Italian translations of eight birth certificates, a marriage certificate, two academic diplomas, and police clearance documents for the immigrazione procedure. All documents accepted by the relevant Caserta public authority.
A UK company acquiring an Italian subsidiary needed sworn Italian translations of UK company articles, director resolutions, and shareholder agreements for the Caserta Chamber of Commerce registration. Completed in five business days.
Common questions
Certified translation includes a signed statement by the translator confirming accuracy. Sworn translation is performed by a translator registered with the Italian court (perito traduttore) and includes an oath, giving it greater legal force. We advise which is needed.
A clear scan is usually sufficient for the translation work. Some authorities require the original at submission; we advise per case.
